Cleaning, Tearing and Fixing

 We have a collapsing building we are fixing up! We cleaned all the shingles and dirt and junk that was there yesterday. Then we (my dad) sawed off a few parts of the wall that caught fire when the barn burnt down. And soon we will start tearing down more stuff and fixing the stalls up for goats and chickens!

And I'll have an after picture tomorrow :) As in, after we were done cleaning. It won't be all the way done for a while!!

Also, I've been super busy and that's why I haven't posted in the last few days. Hopefully I'll post more soon.

Saturday 9

1) Greased Lightnin' was the name of a car. Have you ever given your car a name?
No, because I never owned a car before!

2) Could your vehicle use a trip to the car wash this weekend? 
Maybe I'll wash my  bike.

3) This song is from the soundtrack of the movie Grease, the biggest money-making movie musical of all time. Have you ever seen it?
YES. OMG. I love Grease!!

4) John Travolta's astrological sign is Aquarius. What's yours?
Leo!! As are three other people in my family.

5)  In addition to being John Travolta's birthplace, Englewood, New Jersey, played a significant role in telecommunications history. In 1951, Englewood's mayor made the first-ever direct dial long-distance call in the United States. Now it's your turn. Tell us something about your birthplace. 
Aurora Colorado is a place that I don't know that much about! I moved away from there when I was a baby and I don't really know anything except that my brother was born there too, and it's a pretty big city.

6) Travolta is an excellent dancer. How are you on the dance floor?
I've never been dancing but I like to think I'd be as good as Elaine from Seinfeld.

 
7) Grease is an upbeat musical about the students of Rydell High. Another Travolta movie is Carrie, which features the worst prom night imaginable. Grease or Carrie -- which is closer to your high school experience?
I don't know because I've never been to high school.

8) What was your best subject in high school? What was your worst?
 Uhm, high school is not a good subject for me to talk about because I don't have much to say!

9) Sam made good use of the bus ride to school, using that time to complete her homework. What do you remember about getting to or from school?

I get out of bed and then I go downstairs. Then I get on the computer and check all my stuff. I go take care of the goats and in the summer I babysit and tutor a little boy. School!!

Farm Fun Friday #29 + Saul the Puppy

When grilling out with some of my friends, some of the other people there brought their puppy, Saul! Isn't he a cutie? He's a 4 month old Boxer, some kind of Terrier mix and a mix breed dog. He's a jumble!

Zesty Lucy

Lucy is already an adventure-goat.

 She likes playing on rocks and sleeping and eating.

 I've put her in the pasture with her mom in the day and at night they are in a little pen together.

 She sleeps a lot, but it's worth it when she snuggles with you!

 Penny is such a caring mom. She doesn't let the baby out of her sight, but if Lucy scampers away and Penny can't see her, she starts screaming at the top of her lungs!

 This baby is going to grow up big and strong.

Lucy in the Sky

Yesterday after I posted that Penny seemed like she would start labor soon, I had no idea that we would have a baby on the ground in under an hour! 

I ended up NOT going to the dentist, because as we got ready to go, I kept looking out the window and eventually I started freaking out!! As I got my sneakers on "Oh man, now she's nesting." "Dad, are you sure I have to go? She's got a ton of discharge." 

Then when I took her to the kidding stall, and she layed down, AHG! There was the first bubble! I popped it for her and bam! There were the hoofs. At this point, my dad was on the phone with the dentist receptionist and as he's talking to her about me not going because my goat is having babies, he's standing outside the pen as I pull on this baby's legs, because her head was really big! So I'm going "Dad, I can see the feet!" "Dad, call the others if they want to see her born!" "Dad, gimme a towel!!"

And I ended up not going.

Penny got down to work, and with a little pulling on my side, and lots of pushing and screaming on her side, Penny's first baby girl was born. She is such a great mom. With first timers, I always worry about them rejecting the baby, but Penny took to it like... I don't know, as well as kangaroos take to jumping? But really well.

I'm pleased to introduce you to Penny Lane's baby, Lucy in the Sky (With Diamonds).

There is too much milk for one little baby, so I'm helping her out and last night, I got almost half a cup from Penny! It was pretty cool :)

Penny's Due

Today is Penny's due date and she's this close to kidding. No ligaments and her udder grew about ten sizes overnight. I have a dentist appt. today, so I hope she keeps those babies in there until I get home.

I hope that tomorrow's post will have baby goats in it!!

It was very rainy and drizzly when we went to Devil's Lake, but I got some pictures! I was hiding my camera under my shirt or in the case almost the whole time.
